David, a former GP, has been involved in health care computing for over 30 years, initially involved in the evolution of one of the original GP systems at Update Computers. As Medical Director at Torex, he designed and implemented one of the first Windows GP systems. Following on, David founded Apollo Medical Systems Ltd and as Medical Director was responsible for designing the first national cross supplier data extraction and analysis system that underpinned several national programs. In his current role at Black Pear Software, he is designing systems that leverage interoperability and mobility to contribute to the next generation of primary care computing.
Chief Operating Officer
Sean has been involved with health informatics applications and services since 1996, covering electronic prescribing, disease management, prescribing support, out sourced pharmaceutical advisory services and award winning remote patient monitoring services. As a founder of Surelines Audit Services, latterly OSKIS Informatics, he spent 10 years providing a range of data extraction, clinical analysis and reporting tools working with the NHS and pharmaceutical industry, supporting regional and national programmes leading to over 6000 installations. Sean is now working to bring the exciting potential offered by Black Pear to patients, clinicians and healthcare related organisations.
Chief Technology Officer
After a career change from research science, Dunmail has been involved in health informatics for over 15 years, initially working on the development of the first Windows GP system. As Technical Architect for Apollo Medical Systems Ltd, he designed and implemented systems to extract and aggregate primary care data for national programs. In his current role, Dunmail is designing systems to support next-generation healthcare requiring interoperable and mobile ICT with a keen interest in FHIR and OpenSource technologies.
Chief Project Officer
Cheryl came to Black Pear with over 25 years experience in health informatics. During her time with NPfIT and NHS Connecting for Health, she has been part of the teams delivering QMAS, GP2GP and EPS Release 2. In her role as Benefits Manager for DH Informatics and then HSCIC, she ensured that value for money was achieved and benefits from investments were maximised for all informatics programmes. Cheryl is also a clinician who is kept honest by working two sessions a week in general practice. In her role at Black Pear, Cheryl will be at the helm coordinating our live projects.
Working in health IT for over 25 years, Kevin has had senior technical roles at MCS, Torex and Apollo Medical Systems. During this time, he has been involved in developing GP clinical systems including managing the merger of Torex Premiere and AAH Meditel System 6000 into iSoft Synergy. He also developed the document management software ApolloScan and has been responsible for implementing high profile national audit projects. Joining Black Pear in 2011, Kevin is our API geek working on interoperability with major suppliers of primary care software. His current focus lies in HL7 FHIR and implementing services using Node.js and MongoDB.
Since the early 90’s, Steve’s career has been evenly split between the public and commercial sectors, working for NHS Information Authority, NHS Connecting for Health, iSoft and Apollo Medical Systems, interspersed with a few contracts in the USA. Working as a technical consultant and developer, he has worked with an impressive range of programming languages and has even been a Mumps developer (although he tries to deny it)! Within Black Pear he is responsible for service development, MDM and licensing servers, with his current focus on web app development using AngularJS.
The youngest member of our team, Will graduated from the University of Exeter with a first class honours degree in English and American Literature, a year of this time spent at the University of Pittsburgh. With a keen interest in IT, he provided consultancy for Digital Living Ltd and CRI for 5 years, where his roles covered interface design, research and development along with software and hardware maintenance. From 2011, Will has followed in his father’s footsteps, designing clear and intuitive interfaces for the end users of our apps.
Prior to joining Black Pear, Allan has 16 years experience in software engineering working for Hewlett Packard, Imagination Technologies and Nvidia. During this time his work focused on enterprise computing backup systems, TV broadcast receivers and 4G cellular modems. Now enjoying work in the health space, Allan is focusing on integrating our apps with Adastra for use in Out of Hours and NHS 111.
With over 18 years experience in healthcare IT, Tiff has worked as a senior software developer for Torex Medical assisting in implementing one of the first Windows solutions for General Practitioners. Whilst at Apollo Medical Systems Ltd, she was responsible for writing data extraction routines for clients including national programs, PCTs and the Royal College of GPs. Trained as a PRIMIS facilitator, Tiff worked at North of Tyne PCT before moving on to work with Black Pear Software in an operations role.
